Relieving Dental Anxiety

At Capitol Hill-Montlake Dentistry, Dr. Salha specializes in treating fearful, nervous, and anxious patients. We offer various sedation options for patients who suffer from dental anxiety. Dr. Salha will take the time to discuss your triggers, anxieties and fears and develop a custom treatment plan to keep you feeling safe. We want you to have an enjoyable dental experience and are willing to take the time necessary and make proper arrangements to provide you with comfortable care.

Inhaled minimal sedation

(Laughing Gas)

If you are nervous about your upcoming dental procedure but don’t want the strong effects of an oral sedative medication, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) may be the perfect solution. Nitrous oxide is an inhaled anxiolytic (anxiety reducer) that starts working quickly to reduce dental anxiety. Nitrous oxide is delivered through a small and comfortable nose piece and can be turned off by the end of your appointment so you can safely drive home or head back to work.

Please discuss this with us during your first appointment so we can determine the best option for you.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation involves the use of medication (generally in pill form) an hour before your dental procedure that significantly reduces dental anxiety so you can calmly receive the care you need - it is the strongest sedation option. It is a great option for patients with severe anxiety or extreme phobias. Patients who use this will have little to no memory of the visit and many times fall asleep during their procedure. Keep in mind this type of medication will require appropriate travel arrangements to and from the dental office.
